Autumn Invitational 2025 (€1,500 in prizemoney): Match Report.
1st Invitational Air Pistol Match with substantial cash prizes.
Saturday the 13th of Sept 2025 saw the successful hosting of our first Invitational Air Pistol Match.
The 40-shot indoor 10m Air Pistol match was held on our range in Wilkinstown. We invited 24 of our
best and developing air pistol shooters to take part. Our club made the prize money available. In
part to give something back into the sport and to acknowledge the work done by so many to
develop and promote the sport of target shooting.
The match consisted of three relays of eight shooters each shooting a 40-shot match. The top eight
shooters then progressed to an Olympic format final, which consists of 10 shots followed by a series
of 2 shot elimination rounds at the end of each the shooter with the lowest combined score is
eliminated.
After the qualifying round the eight finalists assembled on the line and the tension rose. The Range
Officer called out the instructions and the final began. The first 10 shots were fired and the scores
called out. With the first phase of the final completed we enter the elimination phase. Two shots
fired on command and the shooter with the lowest score is eliminated. Two more shots and the
next shooter is eliminated. This process continues until we reach the Medal Match with only three
competitors remaining. 2 shots – Eva Marriott from Bray wins Bronze. Two shooters remaining,
Ruby Collins from Drogheda and David Keane from Trim, 2 shots to battle for Gold and Silver. After
the First Shot the scores are tied! Final shot, the spectators’ eyes are on the shooters and the score
board. Breaths held, silence, hearts racing…. Bang! Ruby shoots first, 10.0! Seconds later, Bang!
David, 10.2!
David wins by 0.2 of a point! Ruby wins Silver! An amazing end to an excellent competition!
Heartfelt praise to all the finalists who shot so well. Grateful thanks to all the competitors who
competed and of course a big thumbs up to all the background people who work so hard to make
these events happen.
The qualifying rounds and the latter part of the final can be watched on YouTube – WTSC Range
We are hosting a 60shot match this weekend and if anyone wishes to drop by and take a look please
do.

March 2025: Ruby wins overall and junior competition in Ballyclare Target Shooting Club:
Ruby hits a new PB of 543 at the Ballyclare 10m Air Pistol match in Northern Ireland. Ruby becomes our first junior air pistol shooter to compete in NI. She is rightly delighted with her performance and to come home with a PB score adds to the history of this event.
There are markers on the journey for every competitive sportsperson and competing so well in your first away competition is certainly one of those.
This is a great weekend for Ruby and her mum Suzanne. This is a great weekend for our club and it is a great weekend for our sport. Thank you Ruby.
