Vision Impaired shooting is now a World Shooting Para Sport approved discipline as part of Paralympic Shooting. The equipment and targets are adapted to allow athletes to utilise their hearing rather than vision. Equipment is connected to the firearm and target to allow for audio feedback as the aiming point moves closer to the centre of the target.
Vision Impaired athletes can use a support stand which takes the weight of the rifle, or shoot unsupported where they can support the rifle themselves. A shooting assistant is also allowed on the line to ensure safety and support for the athlete.
WTSC has VI equipment available in the club for anyone interested in trying out the sport or getting involved in any competitions.
