Range Officers are vital for the sport to host competitions and training sessions safely. These individuals monitor the range environment to ensure all attendees are behaving in a safe manner, the range is set up safely for all those present, and competitions are being run appropriately.
Range Officers are knowledgeable about the rules of WTSC, how all the equipment functions, and ISSF competition formats so they can assist with any events.
Learning to be a range officer doesn’t negate you from spending time at the range shooting too. It is a great opportunity to get to know the workings of the range better and be confident in knowing how all the equipment works including the electronic target system. You will also be in a great position to help out the club when we host competitions and be a helping hand for newcomers to the sport and range.
The WTSC Range Officers course is set up specifically to cover how WTSC operates. Some general topics are covered such as competition management, use of electronic targets, and instruction of beginners. Non-members are welcome to complete the course but should be aware this does not qualify you as a range officer nationally. Clubs and ranges will typically have their own training or criteria for becoming a club range officer.
The course is free for members to complete. Non-members can attend the course at €10 per person. Get in touch if you want to attend a course and we can organise a suitable day and time. The course is approximately 1.5 hours long.
Topics Covered:
- Set up of range
- Use of SIUS and Megalink target system
- How to instruct beginners
